FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The GST portal shows Invalid Username or Password when the credentials do not match its records, often due to a saved old password, an accidental Caps Lock, or trailing spaces. Use the Forgot Username or Forgot Password link instead of repeating attempts, because repeated failures can temporarily lock the account. Reset the password and log in once from an incognito window to rule out cached credentials.

If the GST portal OTP is delayed or not arriving, click Resend OTP and wait 30 to 60 seconds before retrying, since OTPs can be queued during peak filing hours. Check that your registered mobile has network coverage and that DND or SMS filtering is not blocking the message. Verify the email and mobile on your GST profile are current, and try logging in during off-peak times such as early morning or late evening.

A DSC is usually not detected because the emSigner utility is not running, the USB token driver is outdated, or the browser is blocking the local connection. Install or refresh emSigner, run it as Administrator, and restart the browser. Confirm the USB token is recognised by the operating system and that the DSC is registered against the correct authorised signatory on the portal before retrying.

A PAN mismatch error appears when the PAN you enter does not match the PAN linked to the GSTIN registration. Check the legal entity PAN against the GSTIN details, since proprietors sometimes confuse personal and business PANs. Correct any editable profile detail on the portal, and if the mismatch persists after validation, raise a grievance on the GST portal with supporting documents.

TallyPrime reduces the time you spend logged in to the GST portal by preparing returns, e-invoices, and e-way bills inside the software and pushing them through the connected services, so a portal hiccup is less likely to derail a deadline. It validates GSTINs and invoice data before upload, which cuts down rejections that often look like login or session errors. For repeated portal issues, our Mumbai team can also configure TallyPrime to streamline your filing workflow.
