What is Cost Category?

Cost Category in Tally is a classification system used to track costs across different dimensions like product lines, projects, departments, or sales regions. While cost centers track where costs occur, cost categories track what type of cost it is. For example, a company might use cost centers for branches and cost categories for product lines. Multiple cost categories can be allocated to a single transaction for multi-dimensional analysis.
